Hey Mo,

Are you sure that is an old style mechanical meter that can spin 
backwards?    I have a customer here that the bill doubled when the 
utility installed the new remote reading electronic meters. It's not 
a fully electronic digital readout meter but a mechanical meter with 
an electronic unit attached inside.  Maybe the disk spins backwards 
but the new electronic counters don't register that direction?

Our common friend just down the road from you (DC) has a EMON DMON 
digital KWHr meter that is presently hooked up to the walk-in cooler 
compressor.  It's a $800 meter that reads single or 3 phase AC, it's 
intended for submetering of commercial properties.  I bought it for 
them during the energy conservation phase of the project there. 
Amperage probes are donuts that are super easy to install.  Contact 
me offlist if we want to ask DC to borrow it for you.
