In praise of Xantrex [RE-wrenches]

Most of the time I get marginal to decent assistance form Xantrex.
Recently, however, I called to ask about converting two PS series inverters
to 120 only.  The techs I spoke to knew of the unit to purchase to do this,
but had absolutely no idea electronically how this unit operated.  In fact,
their grasp of electronic fundamentals seemed very minimal.  Speaking
generally here, there seems to be trend in technical support to staff
support lines with techs who don't know enough about the technology to
actually work on it.  This applies to the two Xantrex support techs and to
many computer support people I have spoken to over the last few years.
