HI,Marco,
I looked for you in Las Vegas at the Energy Outfitters conference, but
perhaps as you are a BP Dealer, you didn't hear about it?
Anyway, in the Sunnyboy class, John Berdner announced that the Sunny
Central is now back from the UL testing laboratory, so they are done
with testing, and now they expect and hope to have the UL certification
very soon. They expect to supply actual units by March of 2004. It will
include a Sunnyboy Control Plus, so if you are already installing those,
it shortens the learning curve and gives you all the great data logging
features and more.
Another large and completely new generation central grid tie inverter
(they had an actual working model there in Vegas), already available
right now, with full UL certification, is the Ballard Power 75 KW
inverter. The AC output is a steady and continuous 75 KW, including
after the isolation transformer, and the efficiency is 95% operating at
full 75KW power, again this 95% efficiency includes the 98% efficiency
isolation transformer which is also a step up transformer, so you can
output at 480 VAC.
I took their 1/2 day class, and it has lots of great features! There
was only one other person who took this class, which was too bad, as I
think this inverter is a great new tool for our commercial system
toolbag. Check out their website: www.ballardpower.com
As with any large inverter, one should have a fair amount of experience
on large systmes before installing these.
They will also soon offer a 30kW inverter, then follow that with a 160
kW inverter. the 30kW is air cooled, but the 2 bigger ones are glycol
cooled, which adds greatly to the reliability and efficiency.
I asked if they had any in the field aleady, and they have one installed
in Phoenix and another in Chicago. So SMA and Xantrex are going to have
some competition! (I didn't get to attend the Xantrex seminar. Anyone
who did, can you update us on whats new?)

What will we do if there is another fuel shortage?
Did you know that there is a pollution free, completely
renewable fuel which you can use right now in your own car?
Don't replace the engine, replace the fuel.
Check out my website on making your own fuel:
