Just how long can metering wiring go? [RE-wrenches]

Group,
I am also needing some way if at all possible to run wires for a system
meter about 350 feet. I have run a e-meter 150 feet (here at my home) by
using home made twisted #12 wire. The only negative thing I can see is
that my voltage reading on the meter is .01 low so no real big deal. Amp
hours are still accurate. But 350 feet is a long ways. Too bad no one
makes a wireless unit like the weather stations use. Anyway, any
suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd
