I've been 'round and 'round w/this. I've installed 3 PV20's (1 project 2 different roof planes) and seen 24/7 transformer loss at 6% of total production. I'm currently working on 2 very lg. residential systems a 96kW and a 98kW (not a typo!)one is 3 phase so there are choices but the other is 240 single with no reasonable hope for a 3 phase inverter. For both systems and many hours of calcs. 33 and 34 SB's are winning out. I agree w/Bill the reliabilty is about equal on both PV series and SB but disagree on drawing the line at 10 - 20kW. I used to be right there until I saw my trans. losses and brand X giving me as many problems.

Ballard (yep the fuel cell people)is coming along with some interesting inverters including a 30kW for that HI project. All of their designs have 10 circuit internal combiners and a night time disconnect of the transformer!
