PV north facing in US [RE-wrenches]

As Mark Twain said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.  Any
information can be manipulated, however, a north facing roof with the
collectors facing north at a 7/12 pitch will only produce half of the energy
on a year-round basis as collectors facing south on a 7/12 pitch parallel to
the roof above 40 degrees latitude.  I lived in Sacramento for two years,
things may have changed, but Vacaville was constantly in the fog with
miserable solar conditions from 1980-1982 when I was there and constantly
traveled between Sacramento and the Bay area training people in Solar
energy.  I was always amazed at the people in Davis who put in large space
heating systems in that time period.  I would personally testify in any
lawsuit filed against a contractor who installs a system on a North roof as
described and suggest to their local contracting construction licensing
board that their license be removed.  I consider it fraud to face collectors
north on any pitch that's above a 4/12 north of 35 degrees latitude.  I hope
I never have to testify in court against you or any other contractor for
that matter but fraud is fraud.
