Wrenches:

Brother Dan has his hands full here... As we all do... I strongly
encourage a call to arms, in support of his situation and opportunity,
from everybody that has Net-Metering in their State. The good, the bad,
and the ugly! He's gonna be up all nite next Tuesday... Printing it out
at the last minute and running down to their offices with the "Best He's
Got". He needs all the ammo us gunslingers can share....

Just think! What if something we share with him ends up being a model
that has the good, without the bad & ugly! What a difference that would
make! What a beautiful World it could be!

Your own "2-Cents" on what's right and wrong with your State's Net
Metering Regs... The strengths and the weaknesses. I'll be sharing mine
on Sunday or Monday with everybody... Just a "heads-up" in case you want
to Auto-Delete it!

If you can, I recommend adding a link to your State Net-Metering
Law/Regulation so he can see what it looks like in "Legislative
Language". For whatever reason, that's what these kinds of people want
to see if they're going to support or sponsor something...

I suggest something that is in your words... Long, short, misspelled,
whatever. 2-Cents and perspective. Brother Dan may be alone in person
when he faces this, but I believe he shouldn't be alone in spirit...

A quickie perspective... Here in CA it's all tangled up between Public
Utilities Code, Public Resources Code, Business & Professions Code,
Labor Code, etc.... A place like NC might just have an opportunity to
put something good in place without all the entanglement...

A good model is Thailand. Their whole Tariff structure is on one piece
of paper. I have it here, hold it dear, and regard it as the single
most beautiful document I've ever seen in my life... Even though I can't
read a word of it!

Keep it simple! "Just the facts, Man."

2-Cents and a wish that I were in NC right now....

Subject: net metering for South Carolina [RE-wrenches]
Importance: High

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Scenario: I met with the South Carolina State Energy Office Friday to
discuss net metering for the state of South Carolina.
Due to the state having so many electric suppliers, I was given the
following opportunity/scenario.
The state Energy Office cannot get involved in assistance with the push
for net metering, but I was informed the largest producer of electricity
in South Carolina was the State utility -Santee Cooper Electric.
I was given until next Wednesday, to have a formal written proposal
-purposing that Santee Cooper openly allow net metering.
The document I would need to show the benefits to the state run utility
why it would be in their best interest to allow net metering using PV.
If the State energy office likes the proposal, a meeting with the board
governing the utility will be requested (with a wink and a
handshake-granted), to submit and discuss this, in the attempt to get
this enacted as an official utility offering. I was stunned at their
offer, but they needed someone ( a citizen) to initiate the dialogue,
as they were prevented from doing so.
I already have the approval to sell back to Santee Cooper (thanks to
some former employees of the State Energy Office), but there are some
barriers when it comes to individual co-operatives who purchase
electricity from them and resell it to local communities.
This would be the a huge step forward for a state so dependent on
Nuclear power. If anyone has been involved with the net metering process
in your state and can forward any document or link to assist in my
proposal it would be greatly appreciated. I have a rare and golden
opportunity, but I have very little time. Thank you in advance for any
assistance you may be able to provide.
