lightning arrestors [RE-wrenches]

Brad and wrenches:
If I remember correctly, the Sunroof Systems from SAPC first utilized
the LA-302-DC, which is rated for 0-250 VDC, but more recently utilized the
LA-302-R, which is installed on the AC side. I never understood why the
Sunny Boy systems would not use the
LA-602-DC, which is rated for 0-600 VDC. If we are installing these
lightning arrestors to provide peace of mind, would it be more appropriate
to call them lightning faeries? If a non-UL listed lightning fairy is less
valuable than none at all, why would we consider any lightning protection?
I am partially
Also, my nicest systems utilize the Polyphaser 50A- Negative Ground
lightning fairy. I was told that some voltage drop occurs while passing
across lightning arrestors that are placed in-line of the DC circuits. Is
this loss significant? Should it be designed for? I will be commissioning
a system with four polyphasers later this month. The 6.6 kW arrays will be
installed as part of an SEI workshop next week. All right, free labor!
