used oil field pipe [RE-wrenches]

Friends,

I would caution anyone from using used oilfield pipe for anything. Pipe
that has had oil flow through it will contain NORM, "naturally occurring
radioactive material". Don't laugh. Depending on the amount of time
and the amount of oil that has flowed through it, it can be hazardous.
No wonder it is so cheap.

As regards used drill pipe: it becomes magnatized from spinning in the
ground, and this makes it extremely difficult to get a good weld.

My 2 cents from 11 years in the patch

Jack
