offering a machine that looked like a loudspeaker cabinet with a 
ducted turbine (I assume).

Yes.  Try http://windsave.com/ppt/slideshow.htm slide five.  It's 
still there!  what  hoot :-)

Now it's become the UK equivalent of the hornet.

They claim 1200 watts at 27 mph, which for a 1400 mm rotor is about 
20% more than what is theoretically possible (but practically 
unachievable) .  Just a load of greenwash and some support form a 
high profile politician who presumably knows no better.  Maybe it's 
not so funny once you think about it.  Jut another piece of random 
devaluation of the realities of wind energy.

sigh.

I ought to complain but its a thankless task...
