Hi Wrenches,
I've been fairly quiet for a while but it's time to jump in and give you
an update since there seems to be some confusion regarding the ST/STXR
upgrade program. All the information regarding this program is available
on our website at www.xantrex.com/suntie
The program was announced in October and we began accepting
registrations for the program in November. At no time did we promise
units immediately. We've been very careful during this process to ensure
we are managing the expectations of our industry partners and end-use
customers. Our original expectation (clearly outlined in the program
description on our website) was to begin shipping the upgrade units in
January. In December, we announced a delay in issuing RMA numbers and
reiterated our expectation of beginning shipments in January.
Earlier in January it was necessary for us to make some mechanical
modifications to the combiner board which in turn resulted in
resubmission to UL for regulatory approval. As noted in the email sent
to registrants by our Customer Service department we have been waiting
for UL approval. We received approval yesterday which allows us to move
forward and begin production of upgraded units.
I feel the need to reiterate that at no time did anyone promise upgrade
units to registrants prior to January 2003. The program process and
updates have been well documented on our website and the FAQ section has
been updated to reflect changes in expectations. Additionally, our
Customer Service department has done a remarkable job keeping
registrants informed regarding the status of the upgrade program.
We have had a very closely monitored field trial testing program for the
new MPPT algorithm that will be available in upgraded units. This
process has included a private online discussion forum for beta testing
participants which I have been lurking on during testing. I've been very
pleased with the responsiveness of the participants and Xantrex' and
Henry Cutlers' commitment to ensuring the product we bring to market is
solid and reliable and addresses the concerns regarding the ST/STXR. I
am also a member of the Xantrex ST/STXR Upgrade Program team which has
met weekly since October. I can personally assure you we are 100%
committed to releasing a product Xantrex and the industry is proud to
sell and install.
We shipped sample units from production earlier this week to beta test
participants to verify the manufacturing process. Early next week we
will be building some further sample units to provide to industry
partners for testing. On February 10th we will begin shipping the first
units to registrants for the upgrade program and we'll be ramping up
production throughout February. RMA numbers will be issued to those
registered for the upgrade program in the order registrations were
received and this process will begin late next week. Issuing RMA numbers
will be an ongoing process as units become available to ship. Due to the
volume of units registered for the upgrade program we expect to continue
shipping upgraded units to registrants through March and possibly into
April. I make this statement to be clear regarding expectations as some
people seem to have confused the initial shipping "start" date to be the
date all upgrade shipments will be completed.
Thanks again for your patience and my apologies if there was any
misunderstanding regarding when replacement units would be shipped.
Please continue to visit www.xantrex.com/suntie for further updates.
Regards,
Pagan
