Bob,
I just read the MC installation manual again and you are right it
doesnt mention tinning as a requirement only that "it is advantageous
to use tinned wires".
The only reason I had considered buying the MC tools was to stop
panelizing in shop and go with "plug and play". Since Shell Solar will
stand behind GC-1000's installed as an earthsafe product (on a case by
case basis) I will continue to install Shell earthsafe systems. The new
systems utilize SP140's with MC's pre-installed, (and SMA inverters) so
I dont need to purchase the tooling or connectors.
