Jeff:

While I agree heartily that quality installations are safer, I do not agree
that they eliminate the need fro GF protection.  If your logic where taken
a bit farther, a bullet proof installation would obviate the need for over
current protection of any kind.

I believe good solid, neat installations, coupled with adequate circuit
protection is the best advice.

When we install a PV array, we usually test for OC voltage and for SC
current.  From now on, we will also test for voltage between the negative
leads and ground, before the negatives are connected.
