phase converter? [RE-wrenches]

Kirk,

The only way I know how to do it is to use a motor/gen set. 3-phase moter
running a single phase generator. There might be an electronic equivalent
now, but probably pricier, and more complex.

Not very efficient (depending on size, maybe 75% at best overall). Does his
house really represent that big a % of his overall loads that it makes a
difference?
