phase converter? [RE-wrenches]

Hi Kirk,

This has come up before on this list - but I can't remember the outcome. One
suggestion is to use a "motor-generator" combination - its just a simple
mechanically coupled changeover unit.  For example, to go from 3 phase to
single, mechanically couple a 3 phase motor to a single phase generator.
Its a bit rough & ready, but we got a company here that sells them to the
small workshops.
