Bob,
hedgehog:
Noun: 1. Any of small insectivorous mammals of the family Erindaceidae of
Europe, Africa and Asia, having the back covered with dense, erectile spines
and characteristally rolling into a ball for protection. 2.
Any of several spiny animals, such as porcupine, that are similar to the
hedgehog. 3. A well fortified military position. 4. An anti-submarine weapon
consisting of several rows of mortar-like dischargers positioned to fire in
a circular pattern ahead of a ship. 5. An obstacle used against tanks and
landing craft, consisting of three crossed iron bars welded or bolted
together.
Actual hedgehogs are extremely cute, friendly and make perfect pets. They
are about 6" to 9" long and weigh up to 1.5 lbs. Not your garage door
eating, dog-poking porcupine.
So there you are. You are apparently correct in that regional vocabulary
thing!

Um, Bob, sorry but on this one you're mistaken. Porcupines and hedgehogs
are two entirely different animals. Hedgehogs actually make pretty good
pets.

Have you ever spent 4 hours pulling quills from 2 dogs after they messed
with one, or paid a $200.00 vet bill for having it done for you?
These are also called porcupine's
They also eat the bark off the base of trees, killing them (the trees).
In short, I doubt this is the same animal, they ain't cute, cuddly or nice
pets and yes I will kill them.

Surely you wouldn't actually kill a hedgehog! Is this the same type that
lives in Europe that everyone puts out milk and cookies for? It's difficult
to imagine a hedgehog as malicious (unlike Norwegian Rats)

Sometimes the best solution when all else fails is to kill the damned
things. I have a hedgehog eating the inside insulation of my shop, rubber
insulation, and other goodies and I can't find him doing it to give him a
.30 worth of lesson in manners......

Moth balls, flakes, etc. contain naphthalene, a poison that can produce a
wide range of serious problems. Even death.
