Travis,

Interesting report on the Water Max pump. I import Solastar pumps from South
Africa, which are kind of big-boy cousins of the oh-so-popular and never
critisized Sunrise (Fluxinose) pumps. The similarity lies in the fact that
they are both piston pumps, but that's about all. The Solastar uses a 1.2 kW
motor and will handle arrays of from 2 modules up to 10 in two parralel
strings of 5 - series connected. I'm not mentioning this to try and hawk my
wares via the list, by the way, but I've never advertised these pumps at
all, short of referrals from other pump guys and leads from the factory.

For your info: Solastar 3b @ 30' lift with 5 X 55 Watt mods = 5.95 gpm
                                           @ 200' with 5 X 95 Watt mods =
5.2 gpm
                                           @ 400' with 5 X 140 Watt mods =
4.73 gpm
                                           @ 500' with 10 X 80 Watt mods =
4.51 gpm

The ETA pump @ 500' with 900 Watts = 3.1 gpm
                                           @ 200' with 600 Watts = 4.9 gpm

You can draw your own conclusions about which is a more efficient pump. I
have experienced some problems with thes pumps though. One failure do to the
pump being mishandled somewhere between Africa and SFO, one from trying to
pump very aggressive water and one three years ago that was installed in
Mexico under suspicious circumstances (motor burnout)

The Solastar costs $1, 800. with a superb controller.

Fluxinose and Solastar are busy suing each-other over patent issues.

Matt
