Warranty transfer [RE-wrenches]

Frank,

My first two LADWP customers who had systems installed March and April
of 2001 have recently moved. Both homeowners left their solar systems
(I would have taken them with me). I have been installing Advanced
Energy Inverters and the warranty card states that the warranty ends
when "ownership is transferred". Your question is a great one that I
wish I had a definitive answer to. I don’t like the thought of now
having to honor my mandatory five year warranty on a system who's
inverter manufacturer voided their warranty.

The law in California states that product warranty cards do not have to
be filled out by customers to have said warranty effective. (well it
say's something like that, but I know what it means).

I am wondering if it would be in my best interest to advise customers
not to send in the warranty card? We need to protect our asses as well.

Graham

Hello All,
I have a customer who had us install a CEC rebate type system last year.
He
is now selling his home, and is wondering if the 5-year warranty will
pass
along to the new owner. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for
any input.......

SUNcerely,
