Inverter Generators? [RE-wrenches]

Hi Kurt,
I tested the inverter on my SW4048 yesterday. It had no problem locking on
to start charging even when the generator was idling. It charged at 30 amps
AC for about 15 minutes until I turned it down to 10 amps AC. Tri-Metric
showed over 50 amps @ 53 volts on the DC side. The generator is only rated
at 2800 watts so I felt that was test enough. I did a crude efficiency test
using a Brand meter for the AC and a Tri-Metric for the DC side. With the AC
charge rate set to 5 amps, the inverter was using around 580 watts and the
Tri-Metric showed 10 amps @ 51 volts (510 watts), approx 88% efficient. An
interesting note was the Brand Meter showed the inverter's power factor at
.95 at that charge rate and the Power Factor got worse as I turned the
charge rate up. The DC charge rate seemed very comparable to what I get off
the grid.
Throughout all the changing of charge rates the generator never went out
side the SW's factory set parameters and remained lock on charging the whole
time. I'm pretty sold on these inverter generators.
Travis
