I don't know the cost from PG&E as they have yet to charge any of my
installs for one (and I'm not asking!). I also do not know if they will
allow you to supply the meter if their price is out of line. Personally, I
doubt their price will be unreasonable or that they will let you supply it.

As someone stated earlier, it should be in the $50 ballpark with the PG&E
TOU going for $270.

Jeff, Darn it - you are right. I forgot this concession to the utility
companies
that were complaining that meters cost money. On the plus side, "installing
a
meter" was written into law to prevent the cost of double-hub meters being
passed on to the customer. How much does the new meter cost?
