Microwave ovens with inverters [RE-wrenches]

We tested a number of home automation equipment several years ago with
different inverters and found that the typical "X-10" devices will not
work with a mod-sine wave inverter due to "noise" on line that blocks
the carrier wave signals. In addition, we found almost all X-10
devices at best get very hot, and at worst we had motion controlled
X-10 outside flood lights catch fire!

However, we had no problem with this equipment when using Trace SW
inverters. We talked with the engineers at a manufacturer for the
X-10 automation equipment and they were not aware of this problem, did
not know anything about non sine wave power, and saw no reason to add
any kind of warning to their installation instructions!
