Hi Ian,

I find one of the most useful tools in Mick's Apples & Oranges (HP65) is the
Capacity Factor % number in parenthesis. It takes into account the swept
area, and the turbine's rated wind speed as compared to it's output
potential at various wind speeds. As Mick points out though we're relying on
manufacturer's data. The capacity factor of the AWP3.6 at 12 mph I'd bet
will be significantly greater than the Whisper 1000. Looking at the AWP
specs we see approx. 6kWH/day (at 12 mph) x 30 = 180kWH which gives the
Capacity Factor (as best I can figure it) of 28%. Mick rates the Whisper at
22% CF at 12 mph. That is a 27% increase in output from the AWP at 12 mph
over the Whisper, and as the wind increases, as you're finding, it just gets
better I'll bet due to the Swept area.
