GC-1000 and MultiMode Service and Support [RE-wrenches]

It has been almost two months since AEI filed bankruptcy. During that
time I've tried to support dealers, installers, and end-users as best I can.
I have been able to provide telephone and on-site support for a fee. I've
been out to CA a few times to help larger clients. Unfortunately, because of
the legalities of the bankruptcy, I have not been able to do much.
Most of the products I need in order to support the inverters are part
of the intellectual property of Advanced Energy... now property of the
creditor's committee. I cannot in any way use their property. This means
that I can't provide software, board upgrades, or engineered replacement
parts. Before AEI folded, I was able to fill requests for several hundred
3.3B upgrade chips to distributors with MultiModes in stock. I can help you
find and install those chips, but I cannot program any more of them.
I have asked the attorney for the creditor's committee for access to
parts and materials during the transition. They have not yet responded. Once
a company has purchased the intellectual property, I will request that the
new company provide warranty support and offer them my help. I can show them
why it is in their best interest to do so.
Personally, I know that the latest release of the inverter with the
3.3B software and thermally-upgraded powerboard was/is an excellent product.
The intended enhancements (which were close), including generator support,
secondary shunt (for wind & hydro), 240 volt, the battery wizard, and more
would have made the unit mouth-watering. If a well-financed company who
knows how to manufacture buys the intellectual property then we're going to
have the inverter we've been waiting for.

By-the-way, in case any of you don't know me, I was the Director of Customer
Service and Information Systems for Advanced Energy. Currently, I'm doing
some private consulting and looking for the best way to stay in the RE
industry. My resume is at www.TheEnergyGrid.com.
