Anyone have any info on Iota chargers' power factor?
Any thoughts?
Jack West
Greetings Jack,
I would just mention that I checked into the Iotas last fall and
discovered that the standard models, even with the IQ-3 smart charge
controller, could not charge to a high enough voltage to properly
maintain the battery. I don't remember the voltage settings but even
the EQ (with the IQ-3) was very low. I opted for the DLS-75 in a
special order manual model. The user sets the voltage at an internal
on-board pot. There is then no charge regulation other than the fact
that the voltage will not exceed this setting. Otherwise the unit has
worked very well although it is powered by a 6.5 KW generator. Maybe
they have made the charge settings adjustable in the last year. The
folks at Iota were friendly and informative and I encouraged them to
make the appropriate changes to the IQ-3. Just as an aside, the
Statpower was really pricey.
