PG&E with disconnect [RE-wrenches]

Jay,

Is the second load center a 200-amp load center? If it is less, the
disconnect only needs to be large enough for the load center. If the second
load center is 200 amps, I would push PG&E on the original letter. There is
absolutely nothing that requires them to require you to put that disconnect
at the main disconnect. It is very common for a generator disconnect to be
located elsewhere on a premises with a plaque describing the location of the
disconnect. If they keep giving you a hassle, ask them to have Jeff Goh in
their protection department to give me a call (707-332-0761). I'd be happy
to discuss it with him.

Bill.

Subject: PG&E with disconnect [RE-wrenches]

Hi All,

Wanted to let you know a current situation I've got.

Intertie.

Customer has 350' between main load center to the house with a second load
center on it.

Before I started work I recieved a letter from PG&E stating that it would
be
fine to locate the disconnect at the house with a placard at the MAIN
stating
where the house is etc and how to get to it etc.

Both are easily located, they have to drive by the house to get to the
main/meter location.

So now PG&E is demanding that we install a disconnect ( which would be a
200
amp) at the main /meter location. Which means a 200 amp 2 pole 3R box plus
all
the hassle of the hook ups, like the wires are now too short etc.

Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks,

jay
