A word of warning, the ECN report is not based on actual field testing.
The researchers tested the performance of the modules under various
light intensities and then modelled annual performance.

That said, any module that has a better response to blue light has an
advantage under diffuse light conditions since the spectral composition
of diffuse light is weighted to the blue end compared to the spectrum
used for module testing.

BP has reported on this regarding their Laser Groove modules and so have
various researchers who have tested a-Si modules.

On the one hand, crystalline Si abosrbs a wider spectrum of light than
a-Si, but the quality of the front surface (where most blue light is
absorbed) determines the module efficiency under diffuse light.
On the other hand, plain a-Si doesn't absorb longer wavelength red
light. So as the spectrum shifts to blue when the clouds blow in, the
efficieny increases above the STC rating.
