Trace Charge Controller Ratings [RE-wrenches]

   "I am still wondering how Trace gets away with using only the
   Heinemann breakers as primary protection. While the breakers are rated at
   25,000 AIC for DC circuits, who wants their equipment to handle that
   current for the delay time required to trip this breaker"

I agree.  we always install a class T fuse right next to the positive
terminal of the battery bank with about 8" long #4/0 cable.  Then we run to
the Heinermann breakers in the Trace panel.  This also gives the added
protection in case the battery box and inverter are located in different
rooms separated by a wall, with much higher potential for cutting or a short
between the battery box and the inverter dis-connect that could start a
fire.
