The last ST I installed was last August. Due to the
often described problems, I elected to go with Sunny
Boy.
We have had great success with the SB units. I can't
say that they are perfect, but John and crew at
SMA-America will rectify any problems ASAP -- no run
arounds!
Things we like include standard 5 year warranty, no
cooling fan noise, NEMA 4X box, MPPT that works, true
sine wave, and low amps leading to smaller wires.
We had a ground fault appear the other day after a
couple of days of high wind (Near the Fallbrook
fires). It was on a roof top unit and the GFDI worked
perfectly. The problem was installation related (an
overlooked mounting bolt on a Unirac solar mount had
worked its way into one of the cells of a panel from
the back side, shorting out the panel). My crew and I
learned a good lesson to slow down and keep accurate
count of such things.

Thanks!
