backup gennys [RE-wrenches]

First I am not bad mouthing anybodys gennys.  I am only expressing what
I see in the field.  The ratio of dead propane units to diesel units is
way off the chart.  And the diesels also just charge better ( I haven't
seen anybody address this ).  yes they are harder to start, and are not
right for every condition to be sure, I only speak for the area that I
live and work.

AND,

I offer this suggestion for comment.

If you were going to add a expensive genny, with small house and all
wiring etc, you can expect to pay $5-10,000.

Now if you ( this all depends on the area) take that and install more
panels and maybe a few more batts, now what would you have?  And then
install a cheap back up genny that would only run for a few days year?

This is my prefference, but for many folks where I live, they just don't
get any sun so its not possible.
