Look at the possibility of actual series of LEDs embedded in a plastic panel
arranged to form dot pattern numerals of the street numbers. You view the
LED pattern numbers directly rather than illuminating a whole surface sign.
This allows use of low cost 8 or 10 cent standard LEDs. You could make
individual number panels that slide into a frame and plug in.  They are
visible much farther than an illuminated sign.
