John,
I've used a 2.4 gHZ broad-band phone in a jungle location in Hawai'i for a
couple years now with good results. www.carlsonwireless.com 707 923-3000.
Please tell them you were referred by me. Their unit has two lines and can
do around 28K for internet connections. Power supply, if I remember
correctly, is from 12 to 30+ VDC, perfect for solar.
good luck,
marco

Hi all,
I finally have the perfect candidate for a radiotelephone. The last pole
is one mile away but on the opposite side of a small lake. Good line of
sight but obviously short of an underwater cable, it looks like a wire
won't
work. We already have the solar/wind offgrid power designed but he needs a
phone also. Any experiences with brands, prices, ease of installation,
reliability etc would be helpful.
