Daryl,

If it is a 2-wire pump (no control box) it simply won't work. If it's 
3-wire (with a control box) and says "solid state" on the control 
box, it needs to be retrofited with a relay replacement kit, or 
replace the control box completely with the relay type.

What's the situation?
