Used System [RE-wrenches]

Todd,

Of course, I carefully explained to him that he'd better count on it taking
2 guys the better part of a week to dismantle this system and unweave it
from the house, repack it into what originally boxing remains, and make new
boxing strong enough to protect the valuable equipment in shipping. He
realizes that I am the only one who can do that so there is a few grand off
the selling price right there. It is a grid connected home. I also
explained to him that thanks to the internet wholesale to the public solar
pricing that the kind of folks who were looking for good deals on solar
equipment were also the ones who already new you could find his equipment
brand new for ~40% less than he paid for it thus they probably wouldn't be
willing to pay even half of what he had in the system.

I understand your feelings but this a Y2K get away home that became
unoccupied by the Colorado owner and his family within 3 days of 1/01/00.
So it didn't make sense then either. This house is an a very poor area.
Average household income is less than 40k year and the closest metropolitan
area is hrs away. Since its not on one of the area's many lakes very few
2nd home shoppers are interested in paying the kind of money this guys needs
to keep from really taking a bath. I think he's already taking a pretty big
hit. I have had several chances to sell the system to new customers but
they weren't too interested in it and he wasn't sure what it was worth. I
suppose that I should mention that Jade Mountain sold him the bulk of the
original equipment at darn near list. Jade Mountain sold him a "complete"
system with six 110 watt panels and 4024. They told him it would run his
whole house (electric stove included) and they didn't even sell him a charge
controller. I lambasted Jade Mountain to the customer so strongly that he
took back a lot of the equipment to Jade Mountain (this guy lives near
Boulder) then bought it from me. Steve Troy called me wanting to know why
I did that to him then had the balls to ask me to give him a kick back for
the lead???? Thank goodness for RE companies like Jade Mountain and Real
Goods.
