I know this may surprise some of you but we charge $950 for a typical
trouble/service call site visit to any remote site installed by others and
requiring several hours of drive time. These always end up taking 9 to 10
hours plus some follow-up research back in the office that you don't
realize.
We have found that any client who has been "pulling their hair out" with a
poorly installed system or miss-programmed inverter is very pleased with our
fast response to their needs and quality service they did not receive from
the "fly by night" operation or internet salesman.
In addition, you are taking on potential "liability" once you touch a poorly
installed system that may have major code violations so we always document
all site conditions and wiring using an electronic camera before taking any
corrective action. You also have the risk of an inverter melt down from
other unknown existing wiring problems after you leave the site. Any caller
not willing to pay for your expert assistance would probably think a $100
fee was too high also.
Of course we are also willing to answer follow-up questions from the new
client and we try to provide the operational training they did not get while
we are on site.
On the flip side, I have almost tossed new office computers and software out
the window after days of my wasted efforts to get the . . . . . thing
working and was thrilled to actually find someone who could quickly come in
and resolve my problem. Also, their charges were less than the cost of the
broken windows!
