Manufacturers on the list? [RE-wrenches]

Manufacturer's access to wrench list:
First, it is safe to assume that a responsible manufacturer would be
interested in following (reading) the list to keep up on what response his
products are generating in the field.  In fact any manufacturer genuinely
interested in their product had darn well ought to be very interested in
content relevant to the product. I think flow of information through to the
manufacturers and designers serves a valid purpose.

Second, we can probably assume that a manufacturer is reading, or will very
likely somehow receive a copy when we make comments on their specific
product on the wrench list.  I don't think that assumption inhibits free
discussion, in any case it is probably wise to assume at least some of the
postings are likely to reach the manufacturer one way or another.

Third issue is access of manufacturers to respond on the list. I think this
is what should be most debated. Perhaps manufacturers could at times be
helpful in resolving some of our needs, if they are willing, and if  the
personnel responding are qualified to give the technical answers, (without
padding, no selling or comparisons with their competition etc).
