<x-flowed>>I have a customer who has 2- SW5548 inverters w/ stacking interface,
>1000AH battery bank, 1KW solar array, 14KW diesel genset w/ remote
>auto-start Murphy and has grid power available and connected to the SWs.
>He's using Float Mode but with the Grid Timer set for charging from 18:00
>to 01:30 each day.
> My question....he wants the generator to do the AC charging, not the
>grid. But he'd like to leave the grid connected.

Run the genset on a timer, and leave the grid disconnected. If you
want grid back up, fit a relay which connect the grid if battery drop
below x volts.
