We have done quite a few stacked pairs, so we have seen the problems you
mention, especially the one about both shutting down if one goes down.  I
was asking  specifically about Trace's newer parallel interface, to allow 8
or 11 kW at 120VAC.  I don't really expect to use it, for the reasons I gave
in the original posting, but I want to be able to better defend my system
design.

No, both can charge, you just set the absorption times a bit off.

I've had a dual SW5548 systems with stacking interfaces in the field since
late 1999.  All is working well as far as I know.  One important thing to
know: if one inverter is having a problem of any kind, they both will go
down.  If any battery charging is going on, I believe that Trace recommends
using one inverter only to battery charge.
