can pulse units [RE-wrenches]

Bob,
The CP marketing is primarily focused on the large engine single batteries
and small banks like you find in an emergency vehicle. BUT, in extensive
conversations with SolarTech, and from our own (somewhat limited)
experience, the CP's are fine for larger banks. Just don't expect the
batteries to come around to a fresh state in one charge cycle. Basically,
the MP units pack more punch, and are made to desulfate a large battery in
one pass through the charge unit. The CP's need to work over a longer time
period to do the same on a large bank. But with RE systems, you've got the
time. I only go to the MP units is the voltage is 48 and up, at which time
you've probably got enough inveted in the batteries to jsutify a $375
price.
Largest pack that I've "brought back" with a CP is a 660 Amp hour T-105
pack. 3 cells that tested very low (1.15 immediatly after start of
discharge, with other cells all around 1.260) Bank is working great now.
Took about 2 weeks to bring it back.
On the smaller side, a friend had a Sears Marine battery for his boat. He
used to replace it every 2 - 3 years. 2 years ago it was at 11.5V and would
not charge above that level. I gave him a CP-12 (in return for a favor) and
he put it on. He's still using the same battery, works great. He's not a
battery guy, and has no interest in taking lots of readings and
measurements. But he knows when his battery is doing the job and when it's
not.
Well, you did ask. :)
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
My understanding is that the CP units are intended for single batteries or
a
heavy truck type of arrangement and that the MP units are intended for
large
battery packs like in a fork lift or in the battery systems we build.
Am I wrong about this?
Have you had any definite positive results with CP units on large packs
yet?
"ridiculous markups" sounds like what I am seeing here.
Here is what I was given for pricing.
"The list prices for the MP12 and the MP24 are $345 and $495 respectively.
Distributors who submit individual orders of $2500 or more receive a 30%
discount."
Hard to justify the MP 24 at those prices.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Those prices do seem high. We sell these units at full retail (not much
mark up). They both go for $375. (unless there's been a big price increase
in the last couple months!) The CP-12 is $125 and the CP-24 is $145. These
smaller units are good for up to about 800 amps of motive power, or quite a
bit more (like 3 times as much) on an RE system where you don't need a "3
cycle cure".
I hear the dealer in Japan is making a killing on these units. They
apparaently love them over there, no one else is allowed to sell them, and
the dealer has no fear of ridiculous markups.

Can any of you folks give me pricing (retail and cost) on the Can Pulse
battery desulfator units?
Models MP-12 and MP- 24? I want a 2nd opinion, as the prices I have been
given seem way too high. Doesn't make sense to put a $500 unit on a $600.00
battery! I think the fellow might be trying to take me for a ride.......
Thanks,
Bob
