Travis,

A classic sewing machine, with nothing but a foot control and a 
motor, will run on any kind of wave. It's a universal motor like in 
power tools, and isn't fussy. The foot control is just a variable 
resistance.

If it is some newfangled machine with electronics, then let us know 
and maybe some other wrench has the experience.
