Greetings Bill,

Yup, probably wouldn't meet code but it works.  I often use
 DPDT breakers as well as swithes in any application where a SP would
work.  If ac I paralell the extra pole and if DC I series it.  Getting a
break in the DC world is more doable if you do it in two places at the
same time.
