The top line stuff is well insulated, all are either pilot or electronic
ignition. I think a pilot will use at least a gallon a month if I remember
correctly. Get the sparker.....
I forgot to mention the ignition, the best reason to buy one...... Must be
"head in rectum syndrome" I get that sometimes.

Hi Wrenches:
Another note on gas stoves: Peerless-Premier offers electronic ignition on
its top-line products, which only takes 2 to 3 watts for a few seconds.
There is no glow bar, which can pull 300 to 400 watts per hour the oven is
on--quite a large battery drain. With electronic ignition, stoves (burners
and ovens) without AC power can be lit with a match; some folks just don't
like having a pilot light lit.
Peerless-Premier also sells a cheaper line (like, for discount stores), but
I'm unfamiliar with what options they may offer. My understanding is that
there's a significant quality difference between their top end goods and
the cheap stuff.

Stoves w/out pilots use ignitor bars, also used in propane dryers, these
ignitor bars consume @ 600 watts heating the thermo coupler, once the gas
valve opens then they (ignitor bar) shut off until the thermostat requires
more heat. If you have a good tech usually 1 can re configure the stoves to
a standing pilots.Pricey tho because U need to change the oven controller
and install a thermo coupler but the retro kits can be configured We just
size the BB a bit larger but its not a really big thing until Christmas
dinner and you have the oven on for 6-7 hrs snowed for the past week,
lights on and the back up generator is in the shop......cold raw turkey
