That is true enough. Some meters are optical in that they use a photocell (what's that?) to count the marks on the meter wheel as they go by. They cannot discern the direction of movement of that wheel. Definitely check your meter before pushing the sell button. Fortunately, those meters are not as common as meters that will run in two directions.
