I tried this route a few months back. The Kern's were reluctant to strike a
deal. I'd be happy with a refurb. They cited liability reasons, since they
wouldn't be integrating the inverter to the panel. I think there was also
some concern about the integrity of my request, given the company I work
for. Regardless, I really just want to start making power with my picnic
table, although it does make for a nice hot plate.
