Excellent idea. As RE equipment enters the mainstream, installers will
have more work than they can handle.
I have a close friend who does nothing but install kitchen cabinets,
vanities and lavatories that Home Depot sells. They recommed to the
purchaser that they contact him for the installation. Of course, while he's
there, he picks up additional work they need elsewhere in the house, refer
him to neighbors, etc. Previously, he was a cabinet maker, but it was
easier to install cabinets than it was to make them. Custom cabinets cost a
bundle, and although there is a demand for them, it's much easier to get
burned by investing in a full cabinet shop, employees, etc, than to just
install factory cabinets.
Imagine the potential as "keeping up with the Joneses" becomes an RE
prestige fad. "Honey, the Joneses have more PV's than we do, time to call
back that nice Wrench and order up a few more kilowatts..."
