SB 3048 half power in 48/24 mode [RE-wrenches]

A litte surprised!  I started using SB 3048s on 24V systems thinking I
could use smaller wire with the higher voltage.  But using the 3048 in
48/24 volt mode cuts the power-handling capability in half, and reduces
a 1440 watt controller to a 720 watt controller.  So with the larger
arrays I now need 2 pairs of wires and 2 solar boosts to use the 48v/24
v option.  Has anyone else run into this?  Are there some larger arrays
out there that are putting out half power because the SB 3048 in 48/24V
is current liniting at half the array's capability?  Any simple
solutions?  Thanks.  Lee Tavenner.
