Cobra flexible cable [RE-wrenches]

Noticed the Cobra flex mentioned in connection with the Carflex thread.
Something that might be a problem in Canada - there are a few of us
Canadian wrenches - is the Cobra flexible cable is only listed as
equipment wire (TEW) through CSA. Equipment wire in the Canadian
Electical Code has a lower ampacity than other wire types. This has
nothing to do with the quality of the wire, it is simply that Cobra
hasn't bothered getting their cable listed as RW90, R90 or T90 or any of
the other cable types similiar to its UL listing.

A sharp eyed inspector may note that the 4/0 Cobra with its TEW
designation only has a 195 A allowable ampacity (CEC Table12), instead
of, say, the 385 Amp value that RW90 would have in free air (CEC Table
1) . For this reason locomotive cable and drilling rig cable, which
often has the RW90 designation and is flexible, is the code-compliant
choice when using the Xantrex/Trace DC disconnect.

Is this a real safety issue? No, but inspectors tend to look a little
more closely at things they have never seen before.
