Referrals and Service Calls [RE-wrenches]

A. I started a list of companies, but more specifically people, that we
can refer inquiries to. The only two criteria to get on the list are (1)
we can say "I personally recommend this company" or "A trusted PV
professional has recommended this company to me" and (2) the company has
a defined regular service area. By service, I mean actually going to a
place to work, but does not include only consulting from a distance via
mail, phone, email, etc. and does not include only mailorder or internet
sales. By service area, I mean the territory that a company regularly
works but does not include occasional jobs and projects elsewhere. For
example, I have done work for SMUD, but Sacramento is not my regular
service area. My service area is Los Angeles and Orange Counties for
commercial work and the western Los Angeles area for residential work.
Does anyone have comments to make about this criteria?

B.  By its very nature, this list is exclusive. For example, I can refer
people to Jon Hill or Don Loweburg with confidence and can refer people
to Jon or Don's recommended companies with confidence. In other words, I
trust Jon and Don in word and deed. Of course, all business between
customers and companies is private and referrals are made in good faith
with no implicit or explicit liability to the person or company making
the referral. Does anyone have comments to make about exclusivity and
liability?

C. Who manages the list?

D. The list will be copied and widely disseminated. Such is the nature
of information. The original list will be changed by people other than
the list manager. Such is the nature of man. Where should the original
list be posted?
