Howdy. In the course of human events in the solar business, I
occasionally have the pleasure of dealing with a bad check from a
dealer. That is the case today. This criminal runs a solar biz in
Pensacola FL. He has dodged my calls for weeks and the crap detector has
gone off. Today I called one of our esteemed colleagues in the sunshine
state and got the birds eye lowdown on my perp. Turns out this is his
MO, and I was welcomed to the club. I told our colleague that I was
going to put the check in for collections at the perp's bank, and he had
not heard of this before. So, I thought I would share the procedure with
the group in case some of you don't know. When a check comes back NSF,
we never deposit it a second time. When a check comes back a second time
NSF, it will never be honored by any bank. It is worthless. What we do
is call the perp's bank, and ask for accounting. Tell them the situation
and say we would like to put this check in for collections. Get the bank
contact info, and mail the check to the perp's bank. That sucker sits
there like a vulture waiting for doe ray me to go through his account,
and badda bing, badda boom, we get a cashier's check in 1-3 weeks.
Usually the bank will nip the perps account for their cut on the deal,
but in this case it is going to cost me $20. An equitable trade none the
