IEEE standards are not UL standards, and some of the mentioned improvements in functionality are NEC requirements, not UL.

Just trying to clarify.

"IEEE 1547-1" certification is required at least in the New England ISO document which our utilities abide by. IEEE 1547 does not qualify. My local utility denied my approval for installation last year of a old SMA2500U inverter for this reason.

Hi Kirk,

Can you elaborate on which UL standards the older SB units don’t comply with?

These older Sunnyboys do not comply with latest UL standards regardless. If its a new installation, a savvy utility / AHJ will catch this.

Some years ago I mis-ordered 5 SB2500s for 208 three phase and it turned
out the system was 240 VAC three phase (open delta). I had to return the
inverters to the factory to be converted and I had to rewire all of the
arrays. So no, I don't think this can be done in the field.

Does anyone know if you can convert a
SMA SB2500U ( old red inverter) from 208 to 240vac?

Without using a boost transformer.

Thx
