You would have to have a serious heat differential from inside to 
outside for that too work.  And it still wouldn't get you closer than a 
hammer.  Also, most attics are ventilated so they would be close to the 
outside temp anyway.  Usually the insulation is on the ceiling not under 
the roof.

On a cold night with a vaulted ceiling is the only time it "might" work.
